Inexplicablemente, la OMC ha anunciado una vez más su intención de establecer un cronograma intenso de negociaciones para la primavera boreal, luego de que algunos gobiernos acordaran en las reuniones del G20 de noviembre de 2010, impulsar en 2011 la conclusión de las negociaciones de la Ronda de Doha para la expansión de la OMC.

Gathered at the Action against the G8/G20 Convergence Assembly at the World Social Forum in Dakar, we - social movements, trade unions, international solidarity associations, women and men from all continents - call for massive popular mobilizations during the G8 summit on May 26th and 27th in Deauville and the G20 summit on November 3rd and 4th in Cannes. Here in Dakar, we have debated about the way to address the social, ecological, economic and geopolitical crises that together constitute a true crisis of civilization...

During the last Climate Talks in Bonn in August some concrete proposals were
brought to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC) in order to advance the negotiations to cut the greenhouse gas
emissions in a new and positive way. The main demands of the World Peoples
Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth (Cochabamba, April
2010) have been incorporated in the negotiation text of the Ad Hoc Working Group on
Long-term Cooperation under the UNFCCC.

On the 16th of December, at the start of the high-level "ministerial" phase of the two-week summit, we, the movements for global justice, will take over the conference for one day and transform it into a Peoples Assembly

Por la presente, nosotros, representantes de 125 organizaciones de más de 50 países nos dirigimos a Usted para instarlo a que defienda los intereses de los agricultores, los trabajadores, los consumidores, las mujeres y el medio ambiente, rechazando a tal efecto una liberalización aún mayor del comercio de alimentos en la Organización Mundial del Comercio, y que reclame en cambio políticas que deriven en seguridad alimentaria y desarrollo rural, y garanticen y protejan las fuentes de sustento de los agricultores a través de la Soberanía Alimentaria.

El sistema alimentario mundial se encuentra en crisis. Hay millones de personas en el mundo para quienes no es asequible o no tienen acceso a la comida que necesitan, multiplicando la desnutrición y el hambre en el mundo. Los gobiernos del mundo tienen que actuar ahora. Pero la solución no está en profundizar la desregulación de la producción y el comercio de alimentos. Nosotros, organizaciones no gubernamentales y movimientos sociales preocupados, les instamos a rechazar la postura de los dirigentes de la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC), el Banco Mundial, el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE), cuando sostienen que concluir la Ronda de Doha es la solución a la crisis actual.
